Art & Media Academy experimental motion picture graduation project, movie score by Polar Station of Doom

I never realised the band Thrillion was that well-known when I started receiving calls from other bands and people asking me if I was interested in joining their band or project after the Thrillion split up.

The moment I got a call from Jacques van Oevelen of the band "Picture," the first metal band to start in the Netherlands in 1979 and still active today, astonished me the most. I remember listening to their songs like "Unemployed" and "Bombers" full volume" much to the delight of my parents.

Sjaak asked me if I could learn a 45-minute set for a festival gig in The Hague because their bass player had left the band. Metal is not that difficult for a bass player to learn, and I was able to learn it all in a few days. The set included a mix of older songs and songs from their most recent CD, which was a little different from the old metal style Picture and more commercial sounding like Whitesnake and Bon Jovi.

Bert Heerink was their singer at the time, I was a big fan of Vandenberg and was looking forward to meeting him. We rehearsed twice and sounded solid and ready for the festival.

There a very unusual guest appearance from Kaz Lux, former singer of Brainbox, a famous band from the sixties with Jan Akkerman. They had a global hit with the song 'Down Man'.

That day, we performed the set twice; the evening performance was chaotic because the lead vocalist had consumed large amounts of alcohol (apparently he had an alcohol problem).

This band was never going to succeed, and they split up soon after this performance. My two minutes of fame playing in a "professional" band.
